Dear Wendelfesters: Just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate all of you coming out and celebrating with us. The donations to the food bank increased from 260% the first year to 340% last year! This has been a real help to our little town. Please remember your $ donations help us provide some creature comforts (real porta-potties). The side dishes add alot to the community ambiance that gives life to Wendelfest. All each adult needs to bring is enough for about 6 people to supplement the gumbo and rice Wendel cooks. Last year we ran out of food before the band got to eat. The help we had in cleaning up the aftermath last year was great. The only thing I have to whine about is please, if you smoke, use the cans provided for the butts. Remember, we consider all of this place to be our livingroom. Please also make sure trash doesn't get mixed into the recycle bins. We're looking forward to the best fest ever. The musicians are going to blow you away! See you soon! love, Tina
Wendelfest Music Festival began many years ago when Wendel and Tina Broussard and their friends COOPER'S UNCLE had a campout with picking, drinking and late night debauchery. As more people started attending, it kinda' turned into a "mini-festival", and we started to beef up the festivities. Every year we have great live music from some of Central Texas' finest acts... but the acoustic jams, campfire parties, and the potluck style dinner set the overall tone of the event.
$10 donation for admission... once inside WendelFest, NOTHING IS SOLD. Wendel and his wife Tina graciously donate the use of their land for the festival, so the camping is free, Dinner is free, the Beer is free, and the live music is free. Your donations pay for the food, beer, and live-music. If there's any money left over after expenses, it all goes towards the following year's Wendelfest.
We are honored to have Real Ale Sponsor WENDELFEST
